Ever grabbed your remote control and wondered what the heck all those different air conditioning setting symbols were? Unless your Home Air Conditioning installer took the time to explain what all the symbols meant and what the various settings actually do — they might as well be ancient hieroglyphics or alien icons.
We should point out that there are hundreds of different air conditioning companies out there we feature no less than 63 Air Conditioning Brands on our website! These companies manufacture all types of air conditioning systems, such as ductedsplit systemsfloor consoles and cassette air conditioners and sell countless numbers of different models. In short, there arehundreds and hundreds of air conditioners from which to choose — and you can be sure that some have their own peculiar symbols.
This obviously means that the air con will run in Heat mode in Reverse Cycle machines.
This means that your air conditioner is in ventilation mode; it will work like a fan only, and throw out neither warm or cool air, just ambient air. The Auto Function maintains the desired temperature once it has been achieved. It works in both heating and cooling mode. This indicates that the air con is in Quiet Mode or Silent Operation. In this setting, the unit will operate as quietly as possible, reducing fan speed noise to a minimum.
This represents the Vertical Air Swing. It can be set to direct the air vertically, either in a static position, oscillating or automatically. It will force the machine to run at maximum capability non-stop for between 15 and 30 minutes depending on make and model.
Here are just some of them. For example, LG have a function that lets the temperature rise or fall by a few degrees while you sleep. Mitsubishi Electric have two super-intelligent sensor functions, one that controls air direction, the i-See Sensor….
Plus another than turns on or off if it detects the presence or absence of people in the room. Also quite a few modern air conditioning manufacturers incorporate programming functions, shown as the following symbols….
These let you schedule your cooling or heating based around your lifestyle. Snowflake Symbol on Dash Mon Oct 28, am My wife drives my i-MiEV most of the time and twice now she said a chime sounded and a snowflake symbol on the dash appeared above the estimated range.
When this happened the first time she said she noticed the regeneration mileage was adding on mileage to quickly when she let off the accelerator pedal.
The next day it was fine and stayed fine for about a week. Today it happened again but she was almost to her destination and didn't have the opportunity to check the regeneration mileage to see if it was going crazy again. I thought maybe it was just the cold temperature warning for icy conditions but the temperature outside was about 40 degrees. Anyone have this happen to them? If so what was the outcome? It alerts the driver well above freezing. Re: Snowflake Symbol on Dash Mon Oct 28, am The snowflake is a warning for cold temperatures and potential ice.
I haven't noticed anything strange with estimated range, but I did notice a change in regenerative braking force in cold temperatures.
It was around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but I don't think the snowflake was lit. It seemed weaker at higher speeds mphbut got increasingly stronger during deceleration.
The chime should be two sets of two beeps when the snowflake comes on, flashing at first, then going solid on. Re: Snowflake Symbol on Dash Mon Oct 28, pm It stays on while the temperature is at or below the set freezing temperature 37F? Never noticed any difference with the regen while this symbol was on. It may actually be the traction control, the car is sensing slippery conditions on the road - i.
It only takes a minute to sign up. This question has been bugging me for years. I remembered it when I read this: Toilet flush buttons. Generally there is a snowflake for cooling mode and a sun for heat mode, or simply selecting the temperature:.
So you don't know if there is a sun for the summer mode or it represents heating. What are your thoughts on the matter? Have you ever seen a good, clear design, that is really intuitive?
Do you know of any standards for this? Well, recently there's a trend in automobiles to implement "automatic climate control" explained here. Basically, instead of cooling or heating, it maintains a certain temperature.
So the UI becomes straightforward. I think the usability depends on the position and proximity of the buttons as well as the icons. For example, if the button with the sun icon is directly above the button with the snowflake with other buttons a little further awaypeople will see them as a pair similar to the way they understand up and down volume buttons.
I am not sure what the sun button does, but it is paired with the snowflake button which normally means "cold". The context of other buttons is also important with these controls, as it helps the triangular icon to mean different things:. Volume control. Sign up to join this community. Apr 20, 6, 0 0 43 Singapore www. Aug 3, 0 16 floating in space. This has long been a pet peeve of mine. Why the f can't they just put straightforward symbols, or small words?Started by YeahwhateverOctober 9, This morning when I started my car to drive to work it was cold - unfortunately only one degree I noticed a little snowflake symbol in the instrument panel.
I tried to look it up in my owner's manual, but it didn't mention anything. Is the symbol just pointing out the obvious The snowflake showed up and everytime it was cold enough to snow I got the symbol. I figured it was my weather warning! Yes it's a weather caution. The thermometer is located at the front of the car, down near the road level, so it's warning you might experience icy conditions. Weird, i've only had it when it's been cold enough to have my windows frozen.
It's nothing more than a frost warning. It comes on when temperatures are cold enough "that frost may form on the road. Anyway, you don't have to worry about it, it's only a frost warning based purely on the temperature registered by the thermometer on your bumper. In places where winter doesn't settle in like an indigent uncle I could see it being quite useful as you wouldn't be used to seeing winter the way you are in Canada. Up here it's more 'well duh, I know it's cold, I had to wear socks!
Yeah, I had the same thing with mine everytime it went below 4 C. Has anyone else been having their TPS light stay on for about the first 5 minutes of driving in "snowflake" temperatures. I've had this happen twice now and it has gone away both times.
I checked the tires and there were no leaks. I am thinking that it is just the cold affecting the system rather than any real leaks. It should be in the manual. Your tyres might be low no seriously but not in a way that you think it is. At what temperature? Make sure you reset the TPMS when you adjust to the correct pressure so that the computer will use the new pressure as the benchmark. We had the snowflake appear today. It flashed for a while then stayed on constantly.
Temp was at 4. I could not find any reference to this symbol in our manual, so when we got home, Ron called Weber and the service department said it was a frost indicator. Should have just looked on the site first!! The snowflake symbol appears when the external temperature is cold enough for a wet road to become an icy road.Network design proposal for bank pdf
Well it's pretty useless. I think it's not a feature of the AC but of the temperature sensor. I think that's what's not installed on a pulse and maybe the wiring and stuff aren't there? I like the temperature readout but I don't need a snowflake to tell me there might be freezing roads. Besides which the roads are the last thing to freeze around here, they hold in the heat of the summer and the recent day.twenty one pilots: Heathens (from Suicide Squad: The Album) [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
By the time they're icey, it's well under freezing outside. Maybe it's different in switzerland or france or something. For some reason, they packaged the software for the exterior temp display readout and snowflake with the AC system.
I came here to post this thread because I saw the snowflake yesterday morning.
